Echoes in the Alleyway is now live on last.fm. Currently the album is being credited to Substance only, we are looking at getting this changed to various artists. Again thanks to Paul for the work he has put into making this happen!

We also got a great plug on Radio Adelaide thanks to Matt aka A Clearing. As well as performing his own tracks live, Matt plugged the Echoes project. The radio show aired three tracks from the album The Honored Guests M62 Song, Alambradas Melody Calls and The Jetsprays take on Brazil.

Echoes in the Alleyway: a Tribute to Doves is now available for download. All downloads are free, however we do ask that you please consider a donation to the Teenage Cancer Trust. We hope to raise minimum £1,000 for the charity.

Every penny raised goes direct to the Teenage Cancer Trust. There is also an option to tick gift aid, please tick this as for every pound you donate the Teenage Cancer Trust will recieve an extra 25p from the inland revenue.

When asked by Haçienda co-owner and ex-Joy Division manager, Rob Gretton, what they wanted to be, Jimi Goodwin, speaking on behalf of his band, simply replied “musicians”.

Five EPs, four studio albums and three compilations later, his prediction rings true.

Doves’ reputation for honing epic, multi-layered compositions has won them legions of fans around the world. Here, a handful of those fans mirror Doves by following in their footsteps.

Echoes in the Alleyway: a Tribute to Doves is a compilation of selected tracks, performed and recorded by fans. It is their record of appreciation for some gifted, but unsung musicians.

As promised here is a wee teaser from Echoes In The Alleyway: A Tribute to Doves. The album will be available from next Monday, October 18th. All downloads are free, but from Monday we do ask that you please consider a donation to Teenage Cancer Trust.

For download is a reworking of Ambition by Modeon.

Modeon is an alternative electronic artist from Watford. Having already released two full-length albums and a recent EP, Modeon chose to record Ambition, calling it “startling, pure and mesmerizing.” Modeon decided to reinvent and rebuild the song in his “own style.”

Download closed. Album will be available to download in full in a few hours.

Check back first thing Wednesday, we will be offering up a track from the album for download.

Album is out next Monday, do spread the word if you can. Really hope to make as much as we can for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Now that the artists have done their bit, its now our turn to make sure as many people know about the project as possible in time for October 18th. The aim is a very modest £500, obviously would like to make much more for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

We have put together a press release (thanks to Paul Bingley!) Get it here. Post it wherever possible. Basically, just spread the word!

To help gain interest next week we will make available a track or two for download. If you have a music news site/blog and you want a track to stream/download for your readers, do get in touch.

The deadline has passed, we are no longer accepting tracks for the project. The album will feature 25 tracks spread across two discs. There will also be a few bonus tracks available to download, not part of the album.

Three tracks have been covered twice. But each version is very different, so there will be no note for note repeats!

I have already started work on the running order, not easy! Hope to have this completed next week, plan on making the album cohesive sounding as possible. Expect an announcement late next week!
